The "Pigasus" comes from the Pigasus Awards which were handed out every year by James Randi (on April 1st!) to recognize the worst perpetrators of fraud, quackery or abominations against science. The dubious awards were first handed out in 1997 (before that they were called the Uri Awards for Uri Geller, famous alleged psychic and deluded illusionist, and James Randi's archenemy).
